Our Solar Powered Bakery

Grandy will forever be looking for ways to raise the bar: everything from our ingredients, to the way our products taste to our farming methods to the ways we give back and protect our planet. We’ll never settle.

In 2015, we installed 288 solar panels in a field behind the bakery, where all of our granolas, trails and nuts are crafted. Our solar panels power our ovens, lights, computers and our heating and cooling systems and offset over 145,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions a year. That is the equivalent of driving from Hiram, Maine to San Francisco 25 TIMES!

We know solar power is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint and lower greenhouse gas emissions—but how does it actually work? Learn more in this video featuring Portland, ME’s Office of Sustainability!
